- Tanni's first adventures began in the backseat of her parents' van, where she took summer road trips to bustling cities like Chicago, New York City, and Toronto.
- She has lived in six U.S. states and in Seoul, South Korea, and has traveled across 16 countries, 23 U.S. states, and Washington, D.C.
- Her adventures have included summiting Mt. Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea; exploring ancient ruins in Rome and Pompeii; trekking through tunnels, hidden temples, and lush foliage in Taiwan's Taroko National Park; galloping on horseback through tobacco farms and coffee plantations in Cuba's ViƱales Valley; and, most recently, embarking on a whirlwind food run across six prefectures in Japan.
Experience
Tanni's passion for travel and storytelling began at a young age. Raised in a small, culturally diverse city in Michigan, she was fascinated by the world beyond her own. That curiosity deepened when she turned 12 and her parents took her on her first international trip to Bangladesh, where she was introduced to her family roots and discovered the richness of life outside the U.S. This experience sparked a lifelong desire to connect with people across cultures. Tanni pursued that curiosity through an exchange program in Seoul, South Korea during college and a reporting trip to Managua, Nicaragua during graduate school. After graduation, she solo-traveled through Southeast Asia before returning home to pursue a career in journalism. Since then, she has told stories from Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to rural towns in Colorado and business hubs across Africa. Her articles have been featured in several outlets, including CNN, Military Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and The Texas Tribune. When she's not writing or exploring the city's diverse neighborhoods and global food scene, she's busy planning her next adventure.
Education
Tanni holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Wayne State University and a Master of Science in journalism from Northwestern University, where she specialized in video reporting and writing.
