- Gentry has an affinity for wildlife, especially ungulates (hooved mammals). She has covered wildlife stories around the globe, from musk oxen on the Alaskan tundra to ibex in northern Pakistan.
- Whether she's surfing in Vietnam, trekking through the Himalayas, or fly fishing the River Spey in Scotland, Gentry loves an adventure. If it's outside, she's in.
- Gentry's favorite travel ritual is grabbing a beer with locals. She believes the heart of travel lies in human connection, and few things foster that better than a shared drink.
Experience
Gentry Hale is a Salt Lake City–based travel writer with bylines in National Geographic, Business Insider Travel, Trails Magazine, and more. Her stories span luxury layovers in Singapore to remote mountain towns in Nepal, with a focus on adventure travel, high-end escapes, outdoor recreation, and destination guides. She always says that she feels the most at home when she's not at home.
