- Ryan was the story developer on a project about riding motorbikes across Mongolia, Argentina, and Nepal, which became the award-winning documentary "A Rally for Rangers."
- He booked travel for Odesza's "A Moment Apart" tour, supporting them over the course of 146 shows through 25 countries.
- Articles Ryan wrote about traveling with his young son skiing on both islands of Japan and glaciers in Iceland, among other places, have resulted in the 11-year-old boy getting published as a writer and photographer in his own right.
Experience
Ryan's career has been all about finding that nexus between creativity, execution, and exploration. From traveling the country promoting surf films for surf legend Ian Cairns 20 years ago, to more recent work developing projects for Teton-based visual media company Fisher Creative, adventure storytelling has long been a professional passion. He honed his ability to work out the logistics behind these projects as a marketing assistant and story consultant at Paradigm Talent Agency and as a travel agent specializing in production travel and music tours for Aspen Travel. As a journalist, he has written across a wide range of topics for international outlets like Business Insider and CNN Underscored, as well as acclaimed niche outlets like Mountain Weekly News. Ryan first joined Static as a film and TV writer for Looper but since has moved to travel writing at Islands.
Education
Ryan officially graduated with a BA in business and marketing, and unofficially with a degree in surfing and snowboarding, from the University of San Diego. He has a blue belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and is studying Japanese Mugai Ryu.
